Fall to Layout #43 Take Two

Good morning! Time for another sketch. This one is great when you have a small image you want to use as a focal point.

I just recently got these Polar Bear Pals by My Favorite Things. I don't know why, but in the last few months I've just been obsessed with getting many of their cute animal/creature sets.

Anyway, I loved the smallest bear image in this set and thought it would be great for the sketch. I stamped the bear in Memento Gray Flannel and coloured it was a few Copics (RV29, C3, W3, andYR15). I cut it out and popped it up on a stitched circle die cut. For my background line elements, I used Summer Sunrise for the sentiment strip. The other two are thin Basic Black strips. The base of the card is on some Pure Poppy to coordinate with the bear's scarf.

Approximate sizes:
Card: 4.25 x 4.25
Circle: 2 inch diameter
Sentiment Strip: .75 x 4
Other line elements: 3/16 x 2-9/16 and 3/8 x 3-3/8 (how you can tell I just free handed these ones- haha- I don't normal use 16ths in my pre-determined measurements.

Fall to Layout #42 Take Two

Good afternoon!

Here's this week's sketch. I really love this one. I decided though since it's already winter here, I would change out the flowers for a snowman!

Some basic measurements:
The card is 4.25 x 5.5
The image panel is 3.25 x 4.5.
The side plain part is .75 x  4-3/8.
The card is 4.25 x 5.5

For my card, I pulled out an "oldie". I didn't realize it, but this classic from Papertrey Ink is retired. I felt like colouring, so I stamped the various pieces to build my snowman in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used B99 and B95 for the blue components. When I showed it to my husband, he requested that I make it Blue and Gold in honour of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers playoff game today. So I thought, why not! That would still work for a fun holiday card! I used YR23 for the yellow components and then went over it with a gold Spica pen. I used a little bit of YR07 for the carrot nose and some B41 for shading on the snow parts.

I cut out the snowman and added him to a little stitched snow drift. The sentiment is also from a retired set- Holiday Button Bits. The background is a star/snow coverplate out of Enchanted Evening. I used a little bit of Honey Nut for the side panel. I added a little bit of gold cord for my ribbon element. Finally, I pulled out a super old retired blue from Stampin' Up. I think it was Bordering Blue?  And that was it! I suppose it's a bit "fussy" to be totally classified as clean and simple, but I think the clean layers and single focal point help keep it on the CAS side.

sketch post delay

Good morning everyone!

In case anyone is anxiously awaiting for the projects right at 10am- just a heads up that the post will be delayed. I haven't been at home much this weekend and am not feeling 100% today. But it will be up by the end of the day. The link up will still be live for a full 7 days from whenever I publish the post.

Fall to Layout #41- Take Two

Happy time change day? This day always is met with mixed feelings. All the childless families (or families with teen/adult children) rejoice over the extra hour of sleep. Any with younger kids get to be reminded of just how much of a routine their kids had.

Anyway, the extra hour meant that I actually had time to do up my blog post this morning. I was at an all day crop yesterday and didn't get home til a bit after midnight, which meant I was in bed by around 1AM and up at the new 8AM.

Here is the sketch!

I actually quickly threw this card together at the very end of the crop.My main panel with the circles is 3.75x2. The snowflake panel is just a touch smaller 3-5/8x1-3/8 (approximately). I actually adhered this a little higher than I meant to on the card, but it was late and I had already embossed the greeting. I just didn't feel like a do-over.

Here's Chera's card. She also featured snowflakes. I guess we both were inspired by the snowfall in our respective cities. Ha!

Happy Sunday everyone!!! Here's my sketch card for this week! I decided to switch it up a little by changing the direction of the card! Natasha laughs at me because my visions are usually a lot different then the actual sketch! But that's ok right?? Its a place to be inspired!! I decided to pull out my Distress Oxide inks for that clean crisp look they give! then stamped the snowflake images inside the coloured circles! Then I added some twine to the bottom of that piece before popping it up on my card base! After that part was all together I added the sentiment! It was a pretty quick 10 minute card to pull together. My favourite kind!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Look forward to your creations!
